In 2006, David Carroll received a MacArthur "Genius" Grant for his life's work as an author, artist and naturalist. Hailing from New Hampshire, he has long studied, documented and simply enjoyed the flora and fauna of local marshes, swamps and rivers. His greatest focus has been monitoring the resident Spotted Turtle and Wood Turtle populations.
