Art historian Jeff Jara will present a selection of Audubon bird prints from the Rare Books Room collection, published in London between 1827 and 1838. Following an illustrated lecture on Audubon’s art, methods, and the cultural and historical context in which he worked, the actual prints will be displayed. These rare color plates depict almost 500 North American bird species drawn life-size, often in their natural habitats.

Jeff Jara is an adjunct professor of art history at UW-Milwaukee and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Delaware, specializing in American art and folk art.

Please call the Central Library Art Department (286-3071) to register.
