The National High School Essay Contest provides motivated high school students with the opportunity to engage in scholarship and critical thinking while addressing global issues.
This is an essay contest that is open to 9th-12th graders. This year's topic is: What can the U.S. do to help ensure environmental sustainability?

The essays are judged on different criteria including, but not limited to, understanding of the issue, the ability to grasp the global implications of the topic, and originality of approach.
Essays must be submitted by January 5, 2009. First place will be awarded a $1500 scholarship and a trip to New York City to attend UNA-USA Member’s Day at the United Nations on March 21, 2009. Second place will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. Third place is awarded $500 scholarship.
