On February 17, 1979, the popular radio show A Prairie Home Companion made its national debut as part of National Public Radio's Folk Festival USA. Host Garrison Keillor brought such memorable storylines as Lake Wobegon; Guy Noir, Private Eye; and Lives of the Cowboys to the American radio-listening public. The show has even inspired a feature film. Keillor has also written a number of books, which are available at the Milwaukee Public Library.
