Young Adult Poetry Contest

Calling all aspiring poets! Do you like writing poetry but have nowhere to submit it? If you're age 10-18, you can submit a poem with an entry form at any Milwaukee Public Library or fill out an application online.

Winners will be announced at the Teen Poetry Slam at Washington Park Library on Wednesday, April 28 at 5:30pm. Your poem could be published on the MPL webpage and Facebook page!

Poems must be submitted between March 15 and April 10.

Prizes will be awarded to top poems in three separate age categories:

Ages 10-12:
1st Place: $50 gift card/2nd Place: $25 gift card/3rd Place: $15 gift card
Ages 13-15:
1st Place: $50 gift card/2nd Place: $25 gift card/3rd Place: $15 gift card
Ages 16-18:
1st Place: $50 gift card/2nd Place: $25 gift card/3rd Place: $15 gift card

Rules & Regulations: Must be between 10-18 years of age to participate. Participants must be Milwaukee County residents to be eligible. Individuals can only win one prize in this contest. Entries must be typed orwritten neatly in blue or black ink. Poems will not be returned. All submissions must be original works written by the young adult submitting the entry. Each individual may submit up to two entries.New Picture (1).pngThis poetry contest is hosted by the MPL Teen Advisory Board and sponsored by the Helen Bader Foundation.
