March 8 is international Women's Day. International Women's Day was created by the Socialist Party of America in 1909 to commemorate the women garment worker's strike in 1908. Clara Zetkin, a German Socialist, intoduced the idea of International Woman's Day to the First International Women's Conference in Copenhagen. In 1911, several countries celebrated the first International Women's Day on March 19. It wasn't until 1975 that International Women's Day was celebrated on March 8.
