Workshops for Childcare Providers

Ready to Read.jpgThe Ready to Read with Books2Go program is offering two free workshops to childcare providers this month. Pre-registration required since class sizes are limited. Call 286-8423 to register.

Wonderful Words!: Developing Vocabulary
The research is clear that the more words a child hears the stronger their vocabulary becomes. And a strong vocabulary means stronger reading skills. This session will focus on understanding why an enriched vocabulary is essential and how to help children develop their vocabulary through fun age-appropriate activities. 1.5 hours of continuing education earned by attending this workshop.

Childcare Providers and the Library
The library has many resources to assist child care providers with curriculum planning, but sometimes knowing how and where to find those resources can be a challenge! During this hands-on session, child care providers will learn about resources at the library that can be used to enhance their curriculum and planning. Learn how to search the library catalog, locate library materials and plan activities using these resources. Leave this session with a plan you can use the next day. Participants are encouraged to bring their valid Books2Go library cards or personal library cards. Limited to 15 participants. 2 ½ hours of continuing education earned by attending.
