These words were spoken by civil rights activist W.E.B Du Bois whose 144th birthday would have been today. William Edward Bughardt Du Bois devoted his life to the study and advancement of the black race. Du Bois was the co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), editor of The Crises magazine, and the author of over 30 books.
