On this day in 1971, Leroy "Satchel "Paige became the first Negro League player to be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame. Satchel Paige was a pitcher in the Negro leagues as well as Major League Baseball. Paige began his career in 1926 with the Chattanooga Black Lookouts and ended his career in 1966 playing for the Peninsula Grays.
