On the morning of April 19, 1775, 77 Minutemen (including Paul Revere) stood their ground against 700 British soldiers in what became known as the battles of Lexington and Concord. This incident was the starting point in the American Revolutionary War. The war lasted eight years and 137 days. At its conclusion, over 190,000 soldiers lost their lives and America gained its independance. There have been several books, movies, and sound recordings made about the war.
