Remembering A Fond Farewell To The East Library

East cropped direcror mayor and alderman.jpgThe East Library Closing Celebration on Saturday was a big hit! Several of our regulars and some new faces stopped by to eat cookies, share memories for the East Library scrapbook, look through our display of past photos from the library, and even check out some books. Browser the Library Lion was here, the Summer Soulstice was in full swing, and a good time was had by all.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and 3rd District Alderman Nik Kovac came by, and posed with Library Director Paula Kiely for a photo. Many patrons took photos using our signs as props, and you can see the gallery on our Facebook event page.

Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out, to Artists Working in Education and Laura Gorzek, and of course to all our patrons. We hope to see you at our temporary location at 2430 N. Murray Ave, which opens on Monday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m.

See you then! East Staff @ Closing.jpg
