RadioShack Digital TV Event at Atkinson

Starting June 12, 2009, full-power television stations nationwide must switch from the old method of transmitting TV signals, known as analog, to digital television (DTV). It is estimated that nearly 70 million television sets could lose their signals when the transition happens.

Experts from Radioshack are offering a free class to discuss and prepare you for the switch.

Social Security and You!

Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? This annual celebration began in 1963 with a presidential proclamation from President John F. Kennedy. Each year the President signs a proclamation regarding Older Americans Month in celebration of the achievements and contributions of the nation's older persons.

This month, MPL is offering an informational program for the older patrons in our community. Atkinson Library will be hosting the program "Social Security and YOU: Planning for Your Retirement – What You Need to Know" on Saturday, May 9 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. It will be repeated at Atkinson on Saturday, May 16 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

Older Americans Month

This informative seminar will look at the Social Security retirement program, how it works, how to apply and what you need to know after your benefits have started. Staff from the Social Security Administration will also present information about programs that can provide assistance to you.
