talking books.jpgWhen we moved the East Library into our temporary location, we didn't anticipate having any room for audiobooks or large print books. However, so many people expressed interest in these collections that we've decided to bring them back. We won't have as many as we did at the old East, but we do have some exciting audiobooks at East, including Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and many more.

Expect these collections to grow slowly in the coming weeks as we add new items to the shelves. You can find the audiobooks next to the magazines, and the large print books next to the holds pick-up shelf. As always, if you can't find what you're looking for, our librarians will be happy to help!

water colors.jpgInside the new building we will have two works of public art installed. Artists submitted their ideas in June, and there are now five finalists to choose from. These finalists will present their proposals at the Milwaukee Public Library Centennial Hall, Loos Room, 733 N. 8th St. on Thursday, September 12, at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, you can see their proposals at our website, and take our online survey to tell us which ones you like best. We want the community to have a voice in which art works are chosen, so let us know what you think!

Laptop vending 8.21.13.jpgWE HAVE WIRELESS!

Our high-speed internet service has (finally) been installed! Many of our patrons have been waiting eagerly for our free Wi-Fi, which is now available to the public. You can now bring your laptop, smartphone, tablet, or other device, and connect to the internet for free at the East Library Temporary Location.

In addition, we have expanded our laptop services. Patrons can now use the internet on our laptops for up to two hours, and we have 18 laptops available for use. Stop by the library and try one out!
